What is Earned Wage Access (EWA)?

Earned Wage Access is a no-cost solution that companies can use to expand their employee benefit offerings. It enables employees to access a portion of their earned wages before payday, which can reduce financial stress and provide greater flexibility in managing day-to-day expenses. 

How is Earned Wage Access different from employee pay advances?

Unlike traditional pay advances that require manual processing and tracking, EWA is automated through a payroll integration, with repayments from any wages withdrawn by the employee automatically being paid back to the EWA provider on payday. This removes administrative burden and eliminates the need to manage advance requests manually.

How would this reduce the number of pay advance requests I deal with?

EWA gives employees self-service access to their earned wages whenever they need it. Instead of coming to you for advances, they can request funds through the Earned Wage Access platform or app.

Does offering earned wage access cost my business money?

No. Employers are able to provide Earned Wage Access at no additional cost. Instead, a small fee is taken from the employee’s wages when withdrawn early.

Will my payroll process change if I use Earned Wage Access?

No. Any wages withdrawn early by employees are instead paid back to the EWA provider on payday, instead of to the employee.
